Applicable to the wines of Achaval-Ferrer Altamira Estate, Bella Vista Estate and Mirador Estate, terroir is understood as the land's ability to express its essence in wine; it is the sum of soil, weather and vinestock, consistent and coherent with its environment. The varietal expression in these wines is diffused, allowing for the personality to come forward, transcending the grape variety and developmental time, noticeable even in the fermentation tanks.
Among our products, Achaval-Ferrer Altamira Estate was the only one with these attributes. Starting with the 2002 harvest and with the incorporation of Bella Vista and Mirador, we improved this concept demonstrating the existence of three totally different terroirs. In the three cases the age, the producing techniques and the low yields are very similar, the noticeable differences are only based in the regions from which they come, making them unique.
